As you can imagine, since I started on this jewelry designer business, I have had the opportunity to participate in a lot of different Trade Shows, Conventions, Festivals, Craft Fairs, etc. I’m not going to lie, in the beginning, it was very intimidating for me. I am a natural introvert and having to stand at a booth and talk about my jewelry all day wasn’t easy for me. For the most part, people that attend these events are very welcoming and kind, so it wasn’t long before I found my place within this community.

Here’s a little backstory about me. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love the opportunity to dress up or wear a costume. If I could, I would wear my favorite cocktail dress to shop at Walmart and wear my Captain Marvel costume to get gas, but it’s probably not the best idea. I always say that life is too short to be ordinary, and I am always looking for an occasion to stand out. This is how I came to fall in love with the ComicCon events.

I participated in my first Convention in 2016 as an attendee. My entire family dressed up as characters from Batman. It was quite fun to walk around in costume and take pictures with people like a celebrity as well as, seeing all the amazing Cosplays and celebrities. I knew this was something I wanted to be a part of.

The following year, I participated in the event as a vendor, and everyday I wore a different cosplay. Meeting all of the people, talking to them about their cosplays or my jewelry, and just being in this unusual environment was one of the best times of my life. I made special pieces for the event that were Pop Culture related, and over the years I have really tried to expand on this collection. The fans have to be some of the warmest people I have ever met.

It was very hard for me when ComicExpo, the event that takes place in September, was cancelled this year because of the current world situation. A lot of events were cancelled, as we all know, and life in general has changed so much since March, sometimes it’s hard to imagine what life will look like in the future. I say all the time I look forward to the time we can come together again when the world is new.

But, I am using this time wisely, making lots of jewelry and coming up with new ideas. I am also going to try to develop the Big Cosplay so that when I do once again attend a ComicCon or ComicExpo, my costume will be so over the top everyone will be blown away!

Stay tuned!
