As I have mentioned before, I have a love of many mythical creatures and dragons are no exception. Dragons are mythical beasts with a combination of reptilian and serpentine traits, featured in the legends of several cultures the world over.

Although the dragons of the East and the West have similar physical characteristics, their representations are very different. The biggest difference between the Asian and European dragons is that European folklore portrayed dragons as evil, fearsome and malevolent creatures, white the Asian cultures regard them as benevolent beings. Western dragons symbolize destruction and death, while Eastern dragons symbolize fortune and great power, both good and bad.

The Celtic Dragon is a mighty mystical creature that represents sovereignty, power, or a chief or leader of a clan, such as Pendragon the Celtic word meaning ‘chief.’ Raising power is to invoke the “Eye of the Dragon.” In ancient Ireland and Celtic Isles, the whole Earth was viewed by the Druids as the body of the Dragon, and they built their sacred stone circles upon the “Power Nodes” of its body. They believed dragons connected mortals with the Earth’s magnetism and healing waters.
