These earrings were inspired by one of history’s most interesting women, Lucrezia Borgia. Lucrezia Borgia was an Italian noblewoman and the daughter of future pope Alexander VI, born during the Italian Renaissance, and her three marriages into influential families helped build the political power of her own family. Historians aren’t clear if she participated in her family’s crimes, or if she was a pawn for her brother and father.
She and her third husband became Duke and Duchess of Ferrara. Over the next several years, Lucrezia became known as a patron of the arts, and she supervised a growing famous artistic community. Throughout the years, interest in her has inspired countless works of art, books, and films.
