Researching, once again, the Skye Boat Song, I learned some interesting things. The song that is sung on the television show appears to have been adapted from “The Skye Boat Song“, a late 19th-century Scottish song recalling the journey of Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) from Benbecula to the Isle of Skye as he was avoiding capture by government troops after being defeated at the Battle of Culloden in 1746. Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1892 poem has words similar to the song we know and has also been sung to the tune. No matter the history, it’s one of my favorite songs that I listen to while making jewelry.

When you wear this pendant, I hope that you will carry the beauty of the Skye Boat Song in your heart all day!

“Sing me a song of a lass that is gone
Say, could that lass be I?”

(*Glass cabochon charms are water resistant but not waterproof, make sure you don’t immerse them in water!)
